AMB Moisture Balances
Moisture balance, percent moisture, percent solids

AMB
moisture balances provide a rapid and accurate method for moisture content
and dry weight analysis of a wide range of products and materials.
In research work, as well as in manufacturing and quality control applications
it is essential to be able to determine moisture content simply and
reliably. Adam AMB infra-red moisture balances do precisely
that, providing moisture content data as a percentage of the initial
mass or the residual dry mass. The moisture balance can also be
set up to display percentage content. A suitable sample of the
product is placed inside the drying chamber test parameters are entered
via the keypad and the analysis is started with a simple press of the
key. Three models to choose from enable you to test up to a 50g,
110g or 310 gram sample that best represents the composite sample you
wish to determine the moisture content of your material. Click

Two
quartz halogen lamps provide constant, even drying of the sample
at a temperature pre-selected by the operator. The advanced
software closely monitors the temperature in the drying chamber
and maintains it to within 1°C of the chosen setting.
Temperature range: 50°C - 160°C in increments of 1°C.
Optional high temperature version enables the moisture balance to
operating up to 250 degrees centigrade and useful with samples that
have properties making it difficult from braking the water molecule
away from the sample.
As
the analysis progresses the balance displays the current status, in
accordance with the chosen parameters, keeping the operator updated
on each stage of the process. The analysis will automatically
terminate either when drying is complete and the dry weight is stable,
or after a fixed time specified by the operator. Settings from
2 - 59 seconds in 1 second increments with a maximum analysis time of 10
hours. The final analysis result is shown on the digital display.
At
the end of the analysis all relevant data concerning initial mass, residual
mass, test parameters and results can be printed out via an RS-232 interface
or with the optional Adam printer.
When the moisture balance is connected to a PC the optional data acquisition
software allows the operator to produce a graph
plotting results against time, providing valuable information on
the speed of drying and confirmation of dry weight stability.
Adam Equipment is based in the UK and is a company with
more than 30 years experience in the production and sales of electronic
weighing equipment and during this time has built up a reputation
for quality, reliability and value. The AMB moisture balances
are only a small part of our extensive range of laboratory balances
enabling you to select just the right balance for the job in terms
of capacity, readability, features and price. See the full

Warning
- Moisture
balances should not be used on any volatile organic
sample with flash points. Even a MSDS rating of 1.
Samples with low flask points like Acetaldehyde -38°C
or MEK -4°C should not be used with the AdamLab AMB Moisture
Balance and maybe you should look at Karl Fisher as an alternative.
Although you might presently perform analysis with an oven
on these sample the ovens typically have ventilation and a
much larger cavity than the typical moisture balance that
operates on the principles of TGA. In addition, with
most moisture balances there is no ventilation so all the
fumes remain inside the hood of the moisture balance.
We strongly recommend you consult
with a safety specialist always prior to using any moisture
balances for your safety.
